In light of the Knoxville church shooting [7/27], several Nashville-area bloggers are hurling the blame towards the media.

Jim David Adkisson’s note cited the ‘liberal movement,’ not being able to get a job and loss of food stamp benefits, amongst other reasons, for attacking the Tennessee Valley Universalist Unitarian Church; not to mention, his ex-wife used to go to this particular church. Talk Radio, Coulter, Limbaugh–these are just some of the names listed as being “to blame” by some people. Yes, the political speakers do harp about Democratic policies and the liberal movement ‘ruining the country.’ But just because someone believed in the political pandering and twisted it into his warped version of reality does not mean the ultra-conservative media are to blame. Anyone heard of Charles Manson? He was rather warped, too; the Beatles were blamed for that one for a minute.

Two people, Greg McKendry & Linda Kraeger, are dead; six others are injured. STOP hurling blame and venom-tipped barbs at the media, political pundits, movements, left wing, right wing, up, down…JUST STOP! Think about it: anytime someone does something tragically insane, the person will cite so-and-so & such-and-such as the motivating factor behind his/her actions. Then, the rest of the country/world will read the reasons, look at the actions & consequences and then throw feces blame at whomever ‘deserves’ it or ‘motivated’ the person’s actions. The blame lies solely with Jim David Adkisson with the sawed-off shotgun and extremely unstable mindset.

This is an absolute tragedy; do not completely focus on whom/what is to blame and instead, remember Mr. McKendry, Ms. Kraeger and the six injured.

Evil, unspeakable evil, rose in our midst, and we as a people were too weak, too indecisive, too pusillanimous to deal with it.
